Many things have changed in the last few weeks! One of which...I got married!! So my name is now Bobbi Anderson! It was a beautiful day that I will never forget....

So change goes.....always....that is our one constant. Let's see, what else seems to be pretty consistent in our lives? hmmmm...stress maybe....worry....

Examining the stress level in the human race these days seems to be a popular topic. Stress is being blamed for disease, anxiety disorders and so much more. And although it is a sad statistic, stress is certainly a choice.

Everything that goes on in our lives on a daily basis requires a reaction from us. And that reaction is our choice. Being in a good space within ourselves allows us to react in a more stress free, less anxious way. Sounds pretty simple...it is not. We could make it simple...but why in the world would we do that???

Making the choice to react or look at things differently can help promote a more peaceful inside barometer for us. When the 'knee-jerk' approach is used on a constant basis, we allow our choices to not feel so good inside. Instead of constantly blurting out the first thought that crosses our mind or doing the first instinctual thing that seems right...we need to take a couple of breathes and offer ourselves some other options.

What does that mean? Well, when the special someone says that phrase that always trips your trigger to an not so nice response.....take a few seconds to digest what was said and react in a new way....see what the response to the new reaction is....it could be pretty surprising. This form of a new behavior could change so many things. It is the small stuff...that is relatively easy to change that can make a huge impact on your entire life!

I want to help you on your journey to discovering the amazing person that is your authentic self. It is a fun journey...full of laughter, tears and discover!

Come back to read my blog again!! Love to all....Bobbi

What would it be like to have nothing to do???

I was thinking today how great it would be to be bored for one whole day! We are constantly meeting deadlines....getting to appointments....leaving to get somewhere....always, always, always. Then when we finally stop at the end of the day...there is no energy left to do the things that we would call relaxing.....time to just enjoy being.

Balance is so important for us to stay healthy. When we are constantly in thought of "what is next?"...where do I need to be ....what is left on the list for today?.... am I going to get everthing done today?... AND more and more AND more!!!

Setting boundaries and discovering what REALLY needs your attention, then letting go of the rest of the committments, that are not so important are tools that can get you closer to feeling like you have a bit of control over what is going on in your life.

How to accomplish??? Well, give each day the intent to spend a small portion doing something you want to do...even if it is relaxing with music, meditation, reading....just give yourself a few minutes. Get into the practice of allowing just a few minutes a day...you will discover that some of the tasks that seemed to be so very important will lose some of their importance when you give yourself the much needed minutes to just enjoy being!

Give it your best effort.....and enjoy.

Intention...

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have things just the way you want them. If they were that way, would you want something different? I wonder. We always want something different. Our world changes from minute to minute and we are constantly focusing on the future and what we can change.

We can do so much by setting an intention and visualizing what it would be like. Like a child who dreams, day-dreams, imagines how things will be....we still have that imagination. We sometimes forget how powerful our thoughts can be. Think about something long enough, with enough emotion and it will surely happen. Have you ever thought about it?

The most valuable tool we have is our minds...the thought process is one of the most complex, yet simple processes known. Is it really that simple...think about things and they will happen? How many times have you been thinking about someone and they just happen to call you or show up at your door? "I was just thinking about you" you may say.....really....think about it.

Just think about it!

Love to all, Bobbi

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone has survived the Holiday Season so far! I am happy to share this blog with you and thought it was time for anyone that may not know me to 'see' who I am! My goal is to get lots of followers in 2010...so if you are reading this blog and think of someone who may enjoy it....PLEASE forward it to your friends and family! Thank You!!

This is always a fun time of year. It is full of family gatherings, parties with friends and neighbors, including some gatherings for the children. It spells out lots of fun...but can also be a pretty frantic, stress filled time too. The one sure fired way to stay out of the stress mode is to train your mind to 'stay in the moment'...don't think about what happened yesterday or how in the world you are going to get everything done for tomorrow. Living in the moment allows us to enjoy, appreciate and show gratitude for what the universe is providing for us right now. Too many times we either worry about what just happened or spend precious 'now' time thinking about what may be happening in the future.

Making it a practice to 'stay in the moment' will make you realize the importance of NOW. We may not have a next time....we are mortal and the mere realization of our mortality should shake us to the minute...enjoying what we have right now. Dealing with and being in THIS moment. If you do nothing else for yourself at the end of 2009, give yourself the opportunity to live in the moment you are in. ENJOY, deal, and be grateful for what is happening now.

Please know that Soma Total Wellness wishes you and your families a Happy New Year. Make it your intent for 2010 to live in the moment...enjoy, live, breath, and be grateful.

Gifts for the Holidays!!!

I am first going to remind all of you that Soma Total Wellness has an amazing variety of services that anyone on your Christmas List would LOVE!!....and how much easier could it get....log on and purchase a gift certificate. Then your recipient can choose anything they want. I urge you to do just that...shopping from you sofa is so relaxing and after your purchase you can print out the certificate and wrap it up! Or better yet, you can email the certificate to a loved one that may be farther away, making delivery so easy!!!

It has been a bit since I last blogged! I am hoping that your Thanksgiving season was a nice, thanks filled time. So much has been happening. Our new space is becoming more and more like home as we have settled in the last few months. I am in hopes that many of you who may not have visited us will do so in the next few weeks.

We have started some very fun/fulfilling workshops the last few weeks. They are called "Why Not?"...getting your mind into your workout. They are being tested in a few small gyms in the area. It is a four week intensive hypnosis workshop. Is that all we do, you may ask? Hypnosis sessions are so much more than just the process of being hypnotized. The participants cannot stop talking about the benefits they are seeing from the 60-90 minute sessions. The sessions are $20 each, once per week. In the beginning, we ask for a four week committment....it truly needs a base to see the benefit. Although, the participants now are saying they feel the difference only after two sessions!!

I bring this up because it is quite an amaazingly affordable way to not only be introduced to the power of our habitual mind....but realize that anything is possible with some simple shifts in our thought patterns.

Please consider joining us for a session. Please call Soma Total Wellness for more informations (815)439-2303.

I plan to get some more info out to you...I am in training this weekend (from Thursday to Sunday) for Craniosacral Therapy. I will be offering this service soon and understand that it is a great way of easing migraines, TMJ, chronic pain, anxiety and a host of other symptoms. I will keep you updated.

Have a great day/night and hope to see you at our Wellness Center SOON!!!

Gratitude this Thanksgiving...

We have so much to be thankful for. Even those of us who are having a not so good way of life right now...even when things seem they can get no worse...there is still plenty to be thankful for. Easy for me to say? Probably...I am grateful for the air we breathe....yes, what would we do if that was suddenly taken away from us? What would we do?? We are so in tune to everything around us...let's talk about all of the wonderful things that put awe in our thoughts. How does that bird fly...have the energy to never be still. As we realize the awe that there is on this earth, we will become more aware of what gratitude really is. We are all so rich with things..and it takes so little to see and appreciate it. It just takes us being observant and take the time to put aside all of the chatter we have going in our minds.

Soma Total Wellness is grateful for each and every client we have and look forward to the chance to serve even more. Take time for yourself...take some quiet time so you can hear what your body needs. The most important things...the pillars of our existence are Rest, Water, Exercise and Nutrition. Look at each of these individually...are you doing what your body needs?

Rest....our best time of healing is when we sleep. By depriving our bodies of sleep, we take away that natural healing time. Our body is built to heal itself...but many times we do not give it the time to do just that. These are preventative ways of staying healthy....when we let things go too far...that is when 'dis-ease' sets in and we need to take more drastic steps in our healing process. By listenting to our internal signals...you know you hear them...like when in your mind you hear "stay home tonight...you need to rest"...but you go anyway...not listening to your higher self.

Water....drink plenty of water...not ice tea, pop, beer...etc....just WATER. We are 70% water...our brain is 80% water. What a staple that is for us.....do you drink enough water? Simple enough to do right?

Exercise...well, we all know that is important. Finding the time seems to be a major excuse. Soma Total Wellness offers amazing Yoga sessions...small class settings (no mirrors in our studio!!)....and our instructor is loved by all who attend the classes. Walking for 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week. Talk to a personal trainer....anything to get yourself moving more. Even the Wii Fitness....it is FUN!!

Nutrition...again, we all know what to eat...but do we eat the fruits and veggies?? Most of the time probably not...at least not in the quantities that we should. A chat with a nutritionist is so valuable....make small changes. We can't change everything at once...but we certainly can make small changes and work into a real huge change in the long run.

Get your new year in gear.....Soma Total Wellness has plenty of ways to assist you in doing just that. We have workshops to steer you in the right direction. Tools to keep you on track....call us to get acquaintd with our therpists and the services we offer.
